Language delay refers to the failure of a child to develop language abilities on the usual developmental timeframe. Children develop language skills at different rates, however, if your child misses language development milestones by a long way, then they are regarded as having a language delay. Language delay is distinct from speech delay. A language delay is when a child is having trouble saying their first words or learning words, buildilng their vocabulary, putting together sentences, or understanding words and sentences.
