Neurofibromas are benign (non-cancerous) tumors that grow on nerves throughtout the body. Neurofibromas can cause pain, weakness, and numbness. Tapping on the small, rubbery mass may cause 'electrical pain' to shoot down the extremity in which the neurofibroma has grown.
